Most children don't struggle because they're not smart — they struggle because they were never properly taught how reading works. At Paced Learning Academy, we teach children to decode, not guess. Our structured phonics program gives every child a clear, systematic path from letter sounds to fluent, confident reading.
Small class sizes mean your child gets real attention — and regular progress updates mean you always know exactly how they're doing.

Common Questions from Parents
We get these a lot — here are honest answers.
What age can my child start the Reading Program?
Our program is suitable for children aged 4–8. We have three levels — Little Explorers (Ages 3–4), Early Readers (Ages 5–6), and Confident Readers (Ages 7–8) — so there's a right fit for each stage of development. Not sure which level? Our free assessment will tell you exactly.
My child is already in school — is it too late to start phonics?
Not at all. Many of our students join in Primary 1 or 2 because they're guessing at words rather than decoding them. Our program is designed to fill those gaps at any age within our range. The sooner they start, the faster they catch up — but it's never too late.
How long before I see results?
Most parents notice meaningful progress within 6–8 weeks — especially in their child's willingness to try new words and read out loud. Significant, lasting improvement typically takes 3–6 months, depending on where your child starts. We'll be honest with you from day one about what to expect.
What's the class size?
We keep class sizes small — typically 5–7 students per group — so that every child gets meaningful attention and the teacher can track individual progress week by week. This is one of the biggest differences between PLA and larger enrichment centres.
Do you offer a trial class before committing?
We offer a complimentary 4-session phonics assessment instead of a single trial class — it gives us (and you) a much more accurate picture of your child's level and learning style. There's no commitment required after the assessment. You can book yours for free right now.
How much does the program cost?
Classes are $40 per session. Sessions are typically once a week, so most families budget around $160/month. There are no registration fees or hidden charges. The 4-session assessment is complimentary — you only pay once you decide to enrol.
Is the program aligned with school English curriculum?
Yes. Our phonics curriculum is designed to complement and reinforce the school English curriculum. We focus on decoding skills, phonemic awareness, and reading fluency — the same foundations MOE schools build on. Many of our students see their school reading performance improve directly as a result.
